1793 Gallery on Digbeth Street is delighted to announce that we shall be exhibiting a collection of paintings and works on paper from the Napoleonic Wars. The gallery, although offering for sale 20th century and contemporary art, specialise in pictures from this dramatic period in history. Alongside portraits of the Duke of Wellington, Marshal Ney (“The bravest of the brave”), battle scenes from the Peninsular and Waterloo campaigns, the highlight will be a very important drawing of Napoleon Musing on St Helena, by Sir Benjamin Robert Haydon. The drawing was commissioned by the Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel in 1832, for his own version of the now famous painting which hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, London. The drawing is priced at £15,000.
1793 are a new addition to the Stow art scene, however, Simon Shore has been dealing in art for over 20 years with galleries in both London and New York and over Stow Art Week Simon will be offering free valuations on paintings and watercolours.
